The Surf Stone is a multi-functional tool that double as both flattening plate and a super aggressive diamond stone. It can wear out faster than other dedicated Nano Hone lapping plates, but the replaceable abrasive layer allows the backing to be used for years to come. If you are looking to have a versatile lapping plate that can be used as a dual purpose in your sharpening journey, the Surf Stone is a great tool.
The 50 Micron (#340 grit) is the one we would recommend if you are trying to smooth out a stone surface after aggressive lapping or to reset a very dull edge. Be careful not to catch the edge/tip between the abrasive patterns when using edge leading strokes.
Please do not use this lapping plate for sintered ceramics or diamond resin stones.
