We use this felt pad, made with 100% wool, to deburr and clean up any edges after every stone. The cool thing is that you can go on any angle, as hard as you'd like and this hard felt pad can take the edge without rolling the edge of your knife over, which can sometimes happen with other materials.  While you can use a phone book, wood, cork and other materials for deburring, this is one of the clean and organized set ups for this process. We highly recommend this.
