All classes are fully booked. Please check back in October for indoor class options we are preparing! (Updated: Sep 13th, 2020)
COVID-19 - Physical Distancing & Mask/Face Covering
We will require all participants to be respectful and follow this rule for the health and safety of others. Physical distancing will take place while placing the individual sharpening tables. Classes now take place every Thursday starting on August 20th, 2020 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
New Class Location: St. Alban's Square North West corner (3 min walk from Tosho Knife Arts)
*All classes are now held at an outdoor park rather than at the store. Therefore, if rainfall/adverse weather is expected, you will be notified 24 hours in advance of any cancellation/changes to the upcoming class.
For this class, you will need to bring the following:
1. A face mask or covering. This must be worn throughout the duration of the class
2. One kitchen knife to sharpen
3. Water for hydration
Understanding the basics of the tools and the technique is the key to maintaining a razor-sharp edge. In these semi-private classes (4 max), you will learn the fundamentals of double bevel knives, sharpening stones, and the technique of free-hand sharpening.
As a bonus, you will also receive our E- Sharpening Guide which not only summarizes the class, but also contains additional information about blade making such as grinds, profiles, steels, and construction methods that helps you understand sharpening on a deeper level.
At the end of this class, you will be able to use the proper sharpening techniques for your knives and understand how accuracy and attention to minute detail makes all the difference between a passable vs hair popping blade!
On this note, though, if the knives brought in are in a condition that would go beyond the scope of the class, we will provide you with a blade to work with!
All participants also receive 10% discount on the day of the class for both knife and sharpening products (one-offs and select items are excluded).
