These are byproducts of FM Kaiju line, which requires Tanaka & Myojin to adhere to very tight range of measurements for the final polisher to execute the last stages of hand sharpening. Some blades that don't meet this specification turn into this thicker version of standard FM gyutos.
These are not a full Kaiju, but still have similar features of the Kaiju line; being heavier and taller than the standard FM gyutos. The finish is the same as the standard FM, which is an awesome hazy polish that starts just above the lamination line. We recommend these blades to all carbon steel aficionados with good rust prevention habits that are looking for beefier and heavier blade that offers great food separation and edge retention.
